A well-known farmer and UNC activist from the Felicity area in Chaguanas, Dilraj “Big Rock” Laloo died after a bees attack on Friday morning.
Laloo’s son, Kevin said his father was at the time cutting grass in the community when he crossed a swarm of bees, which suddenly attacked him about the body.
The younger Laloo said his 56-year-old father was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility where he was pronounced dead.
Laloo’s close friend, Senator Avinash Singh, Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries expressed shock at the news of his passing.
“I just got the news that Rock a well-known farmer from Felicity and my good friend wasn’t fortunate as I was after being attacked by bees a short while ago. It was only the day before yesterday Rock called me at 7 am to discuss some agricultural matters. Rest In Peace, my brother.”
The United National Congress has extended its deepest condolences to the Laloo’s family.
“Mr Dilraj Laloo was a UNC stalwart and dedicated activist in the constituency of Chaguanas West, a pillar of the community in Felicity will always be remembered for his strong activism and dedication. May his soul rest in eternal peace and his family be given the strength and courage during this time of bereavement,” the UNCs statement read.
