Bird strike forces Caribbean Airlines flight to return to T&T

Caribbean Air­lines says a bird strike oc­curred with one of its Boe­ing 737-800 air­craft op­er­at­ing flight BW 552 bound for JFK In­ter­na­tion­al Air­port, New York from Ar­gyle In­ter­na­tion­al Air­port, St Vin­cent, on Wednes­day.

In a state­ment is­sued on Thurs­day, CAL says the flight crew fol­lowed the stan­dard op­er­at­ing pro­ce­dures and the air­craft re­turned safe­ly to Pi­ar­co In­ter­na­tion­al Air­port, Trinidad, where it was tak­en out of ser­vice for main­te­nance by the air­line’s en­gi­neers.

It says no emer­gency land­ing was de­clared.

The air­line says pas­sen­gers on flight BW 552 were re-ac­com­mo­dat­ed on a lat­er ser­vice to JFK In­ter­na­tion­al Air­port.

Caribbean Air­lines is thank­ing cus­tomers for their un­der­stand­ing caused by the de­lay.
