Caribbean Airlines says a bird strike occurred with one of its Boeing 737-800 aircraft operating flight BW 552 bound for JFK International Airport, New York from Argyle International Airport, St Vincent, on Wednesday.
In a statement issued on Thursday, CAL says the flight crew followed the standard operating procedures and the aircraft returned safely to Piarco International Airport, Trinidad, where it was taken out of service for maintenance by the airline’s engineers.
It says no emergency landing was declared.
The airline says passengers on flight BW 552 were re-accommodated on a later service to JFK International Airport.
Caribbean Airlines is thanking customers for their understanding caused by the delay.
