A boat­load of peo­ple be­lieved to be Venezue­lan na­tion­als was found adrift ap­prox­i­mate­ly six miles off the coast of Belle Gar­den Fri­day morn­ing.

The dis­cov­ery was made while the fish­er­men were about to ven­ture to sea to ply their trade.

A po­lice source told Guardian Me­dia, ap­prox­i­mate­ly four to six peo­ple are on board the ves­sel and are pre­sumed dead.

The boat was even­tu­al­ly towed close to shore near the Belle Gar­den Beach Fa­cil­i­ty by the fish­er­men.

How­ev­er, spe­cial heavy equip­ment have been re­quest­ed to take the boat out of the wa­ter.

A se­nior po­lice of­fi­cial al­so in­di­cat­ed that spe­cial per­son­al pro­tec­tive equip­ment would be used in the re­trieval of the bod­ies, as the cause of death is un­known.
