A de­com­posed body has been found at Palmiste Park, San Fer­nan­do hang­ing from a tree.

The body is that of a man of African de­scent. It was in an area of the park, along the walk­ing/hik­ing trail, that is not vis­i­ble from the road around 5 pm.

Po­lice be­lieve the body had been hang­ing there for about two days.

A fam­i­ly in­clud­ing a child who was in the park saw the body and called the po­lice.

Near­by ven­dors said they had no­ticed cor­beaux hov­er­ing on Mon­day but no one went to in­ves­ti­gate be­cause the park is closed and the area where the body was found is lone­ly.

Up to Tues­day evening, po­lice had not dis­closed the iden­ti­ty of the man. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing.
