The body of a man was found wrapped in bedsheets and in a drain in Maraval on Thursday afternoon.
The man who was suspected to have been murdered is yet to be identified. Officers suspect he was killed elsewhere and his body dumped in Maraval.
Police said at about 4.15 pm a passerby while walking along Camille Street saw the body in a drain near the intersection of Anderson Terrace and Camille Street.
Upon arrival police made further checks and found that the man's head and chest were also covered with yellow plastic bags.
Police said the victim seemed to be in his early 20s.
The head bore several gaping wounds.
Both hands were crossed on the chest area and bound with duct tape around the chest and back. The feet were also bound with duct tape and placed in a yellow plastic bag.
The body was removed to the Forensic Science Centre pending identification.
