Burglars broke into Thackoordass Service Station in Gonzales Village, Guapo, on Wednesday night, trying to get their hands on a security safe box.
But despite their efforts to breach it, they left empty-handed.
Police said the alarm was raised around 3:39 am on Thursday when an anonymous caller alerted the Guapo Police Station. PC Maharaj, PC Ramkaran, PC Samlal, and WPC Regis responded.
When they arrived, the manager Brandon Thackoordass reported the station’s alarm and CCTV system had alerted him that intruders were inside the building.
The officers inspected the premises and found that all doors, windows, and walls were intact. However, there was a hole in the ceiling which the burglars used to get inside.
Inside Room One, police discovered the security safe box.
The burglars had shifted the safe from its position and attempted to cut it open, leaving visible marks from their tools. Despite their attempts, the safe remained sealed, and nothing was stolen.
Officers from the South Western Divisional Task Force carried out a search for the suspects, but the culprits managed to evade capture.
