A Caroni man on the way to tend his cattle was shot by a man in front of his children on Saturday.
The 39-year-old victim, of Mar Allen Street, Caroni, left home at 4.30 pm to look after the cattle, which had been grazing a short distance away.
As the victim and his children walked along the road, a white Nissan B14 drove up and stopped alongside the trio.
It is alleged that a masked gunman exited and fired four shots in the direction of the victim.
As the man grabbed the children and sought cover under a nearby truck, the gunman reportedly continued firing before getting back into the waiting vehicle.
As the car sped off, the man took his children and ran to an unoccupied building.
They were assisted by residents who took the injured man to hospital.
