A Caroni man remained in critical condition at the hospital yesterday after he was struck in the head with a piece of wood by a relative during an argument.
The 39-year-old maintenance worker was at his mother’s house at Arbuckle Street, Frederick Settlement, Caroni – around 11.30 pm on Sunday, when he reportedly got into an argument with a male relative.
It was alleged the relative took up a piece of wood and struck the victim in the head, causing him to fall.
Other family members who were present rushed the injured man to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope where he was hospitalised in a critical condition.
Medical officials told police the 39-year-old man suffered soft tissue damage on the left side of his head along with a suspected hematoma as a result of the blunt force trauma.
The relative was detained by police.
