The Cer­e­mo­ni­al Open­ing of the 3rd Ses­sion of the 12th Re­pub­li­can Par­lia­ment takes place to­day, Mon­day 12 Sep­tem­ber 2022, at 1:30 pm.

One key high­light of the oc­ca­sion is the in­spec­tion of the Guard of Ho­n­our by the Trinidad and To­ba­go De­fence Force by Her Ex­cel­len­cy Paula-Mae Weekes, Pres­i­dent of the Re­pub­lic of Trinidad and To­ba­go. 

In ad­di­tion, all eyes will be on Her Ex­cel­len­cy when she de­liv­ers her cus­tom­ary ad­dress to sig­nal the re­turn to busi­ness of the Up­per and Low­er House of Par­lia­ment—the Sen­ate and the House of Rep­re­sen­ta­tives.

“The Hous­es will con­vene in their re­spec­tive Cham­bers at 1:30pm and at the ap­point­ed time, Mem­bers of the Sen­ate will join Mem­bers of the House to be ad­dressed by Her Ex­cel­len­cy the Pres­i­dent,” stat­ed an ad­vi­so­ry from the Of­fice of the Par­lia­ment.

Traf­fic re­stric­tions have been in place around the Par­lia­men­tary Com­plex, to fa­cil­i­tate the Cer­e­mo­ni­al Open­ing, which will re­main in ef­fect un­til 5:00 pm to­day.
