Chutney Soca Artistes have come together to spread their message about taking the vaccine to fight against the COVID-19 virus. The following is a press release from Southex:
‘Let’s get vaccinated’
Chutney Soca artistes have come together and have launched a project that contains a special song and music video that they hope will motivate people to go out and get vaccinated.
Covid-19 continues to affect the world and our nation in significant ways. People are dying every single day.
Trinidad & Tobago continues to register deaths on a daily basis with more than 1200 families mourning the loss of loved ones.
The authorities have done a good job in getting vaccines and making them readily available to the public, but because of so much mis-information out there on social media, there are people out there who have decided that they will not take the vaccine for different reasons.
While we respect their decision, we hope that everyone will get all the information available, check with their doctors and rethink their decision, as we believe that this is the only way out of this pandemic that has traumatised the world for almost two years.
About two weeks ago, Southex was approached by Dr. Roodal Moonilal. He had a genuine concern for people who did not want to take the vaccine, and at the time had lost many friends to the dreaded virus.
The project being launched today was initiated and assisted by Dr Roodal Moonilal with financial support from the business community. When Dr. Moonilal approached us, we thought it would be a great idea to market and motivate people to go out there and get the vaccine through comedy and music.
Kenneth Supersad and music producer, Kishore ‘Wizzy’ Ramdath produced this song and this morning we are very pleased to be releasing an ‘official song, an official music video and a special episode of Nah all dedicated to encouraging people to get vaccinated.
‘Let’s get vaccinated’ has been supported by several artistes – Special kudos to Ravi b Even though he was out of the country, he not only added his voice and image to the project, but also sent a special message to everyone.
The song has been written by Kenneth Supersad with music produced by Wizzy and Kenneth Supersad. Video production was done by Playback Productions, Vern Teekasingh.
The voices on the track are from Ravi b, Kenneth Supersad, Master Saleem, Savita Singh, Rawytee Ramroop, Adesh Samaroo, Nisha Ramsook and Veejai Ramkissoon. Special thanks to all these artistes that took the time to go to the studio and also gave of their time to create the official music video.
It is our sincere hope that people will be motivated by the efforts the Chutney Soca Industry has made to do this.
We ask you to please go out and get your vaccine. The authorities have made it easily accessible to get the vaccine no matter where you are in the country.
I must say thank you to Dr. Roodal Moonilal for initiating and assisting with this project, finding the funding from the business community to make it possible and trusting us to bring it to the table in a professional way.
Ladies and gentlemen, we give to Trinidad and Tobago and to the world, our message
‘Let’s get vaccinated’
