The Na­tion­al Awards held on Re­pub­lic Day (Sep­tem­ber 24), saw sev­er­al cit­i­zens be­ing recog­nised for their ded­i­cat­ed ser­vice to Trinidad and To­ba­go.

Ac­cord­ing to the Of­fice of the Pres­i­dent, every cit­i­zen, on be­ing award­ed a Na­tion­al Award, be­comes a Mem­ber of The Dis­tin­guished So­ci­ety of Trinidad and To­ba­go, of which the Pres­i­dent is Chan­cel­lor. Every non-cit­i­zen, on be­ing award­ed a Na­tion­al Award, be­comes an Hon­orary Mem­ber of the Dis­tin­guished So­ci­ety.
