A 46-year-old contractor charged with sexually touching a five-year-old girl was granted $100,000 bail yesterday.
As a condition of his bail, Brian Barrow has to stay away from the child and have no contact with her.
The Claxton Bay man was not called upon to plead to the charge when he appeared yesterday in the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court.
It is alleged that the incident occurred on a date unknown between 31 March and May 1, 2017.
Barrow, a father of two, was arrested on Sunday and charged by Cpl Mohammed of the Child Protection Unit.
Asking First Court Senior Magistrate Alicia Chankar to grant bail, Barrow’s attorney Dhanmati Ramnarine said he had no previous convictions within the last ten years.
She said he surrendered to the police after he was informed that there was a warrant for his arrest.
The attorney said Barrow had spent the night in a cell.
Courtprosecutor Cleyon Seedan did not object to bail but asked for conditions. The magistrate warned him to have no contact with the child either directly or indirectly and stay 100 feet away from her. The matter was adjourned to February 25.
