Po­lice Com­mis­sion­er Er­la Hare­wood-Christo­pher spent Thurs­day night at the St Clair Po­lice Sta­tion, Port-of-Spain af­ter be­ing de­tained for ques­tion­ing in re­la­tion to on­go­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to the Strate­gic Ser­vices Agency (SSA).

The in­ter­ro­ga­tion led by Deputy Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice, In­tel­li­gence and In­ves­ti­ga­tions, Suzette Mar­tin, be­gan at the CoP’s of­fice around 10 am Thurs­day.

Her at­tor­neys told Guardian Me­dia that she will re­main at the sta­tion pend­ing ad­vice from the Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions Roger Gas­pard.

Hare­wood-Christo­pher, the coun­try’s first woman po­lice chief is be­ing ques­tioned in re­la­tion to the is­suance of two firearm user’s li­cences for AX2 bolt ac­tion sniper ri­fles by the SSA. Sources said she could be charged with mis­be­hav­iour in pub­lic of­fice af­ter key doc­u­ments per­tain­ing to the FULs went miss­ing.

Her de­ten­tion came a day af­ter for­mer SSA head Roger Best was held for ques­tion­ing by po­lice. Best re­mains at the Bel­mont Po­lice Sta­tion.
