Just three weeks af­ter a ma­jor gun haul at a cus­toms bond in Cou­va, po­lice made an­oth­er seizure of four as­sault ri­fles and a large quan­ti­ty of am­mu­ni­tion, this time at a ware­house at the PLIPDE­CO In­dus­tri­al Es­tate, Pa­cif­ic Av­enue, Point Lisas, Cou­va.

In a me­dia re­lease on Thurs­day, act­ing Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice Mc Don­ald Ja­cob com­mend­ed the ef­forts of of­fi­cers for yet an­oth­er suc­cess­ful in­tel­li­gence-led ex­er­cise con­duct­ed yes­ter­day.

Ja­cob not­ed the suc­cess of op­er­a­tions of this kind, as it comes on the heels of an­oth­er ma­jor gun and am­mu­ni­tion find in the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion on March 8.

The joint ex­er­cise was co­or­di­nat­ed by act­ing DCP of Op­er­a­tions Joanne Archie, with of­fi­cers of the Spe­cial In­ves­ti­ga­tions Unit (SIU), Cus­toms and Ex­cise Di­vi­sion and Cen­tral Di­vi­sion CSI, un­der the ACP CIB.

Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice, the ex­er­cise was con­duct­ed at the PLIPDE­CO LCL Ware­house, where the of­fi­cers con­duct­ed a search of a sealed bar­rel, which, when opened, con­tained the fol­low­ing:

- Four as­sault ri­fles

- 18 rounds of 9mm am­mu­ni­tion

- 142 rounds 9mm hol­low-point am­mu­ni­tion

- 13 rounds .45 am­mu­ni­tion

- 40 rounds .45 hol­low-point am­mu­ni­tion

- 500 rounds 5.56mm am­mu­ni­tion

- 300 rounds 7.62 am­mu­ni­tion

- 9 mag­a­zines

- 2 drum mag­a­zines

The ex­hibits were processed by of­fi­cers of the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion CSI and en­quiries are con­tin­u­ing by of­fi­cers of the SIU and Cus­toms and Ex­cise.
