Police have rescued kidnap victim Josh Quashie.
In a release a short while ago, Police Commissioner Gary Griffith announced that Quashie had been rescued from an apartment in Carenage.
The rescue operation was conducted by members of the Special Operational Response Team and the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU).
Quashie is said to be receiving medical treatment at this time and in severely traumatised.
According to reports, Quashie, 38 of Montrose, Chaguanas, was kidnapped on Saturday morning.
According to reports, Quashie’s black Hyundai sedan was found abandoned at St Alban Road, Valencia, around 8 am on Saturday. There were fake licence plates on the vehicle. His family subsequently received a $100,000 ransom demand.
After viewing CCTV footage, police began interrogating an Arima man who was in custody for stealing cars at the San Juan Police Station. Investigators then went to a guest house in Port-of-Spain where the suspect was allegedly staying and carried out a search for Quashie without success.
