Cops seize camouflage clothing, AR-rifle in PoS anti-crime raids

Po­lice of­fi­cers con­duct­ed sev­er­al an­ti-crime op­er­a­tions across Trinidad be­tween last Fri­day and Sat­ur­day, re­sult­ing in ar­rests and the seizure of il­le­gal items.

Ac­cord­ing to the TTPS, in the Port of Spain Di­vi­sion, po­lice ex­e­cut­ed house search­es in ar­eas such as Pash­ley Street, Beetham Gar­dens, Bel­mont Ter­race, Rudolph Charles Link Road, and Mor­vant Old Road.

Dur­ing the op­er­a­tion, of­fi­cers dis­cov­ered 271 grammes of cannabis, cam­ou­flage cloth­ing, and a black ski mask at a res­i­dence in Bel­mont Ter­race. A 30-year-old man was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with an on­go­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tion in­to a shoot­ing in­ci­dent and an out­stand­ing war­rant.

Mean­while, in Care­nage, of­fi­cers seized an AR-plat­form ri­fle and 10 rounds of 5.56 am­mu­ni­tion dur­ing a crime erad­i­ca­tion ex­er­cise.

Po­lice said of­fi­cers act­ing on in­tel­li­gence searched an aban­doned lot and struc­ture at the cor­ner of Smith Hill and West­ern Main Road, where the items were found.

No ar­rests have been made and in­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing un­der the su­per­vi­sion of PC Williams. Po­lice al­so con­duct­ed pa­trols in known crime hotspots with­in the Care­nage dis­trict.

In Mor­vant, po­lice un­cov­ered a block of com­pressed mar­i­jua­na weigh­ing 483.3 grammes dur­ing a search of a bushy area along Pitch Road on Sat­ur­day. The mar­i­jua­na, val­ued at ap­prox­i­mate­ly $14,499, was seized as part of the on­go­ing an­ti-crime ef­forts.

The op­er­a­tion in Mor­vant was led by Act­ing Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent Ed­wards, Su­per­in­ten­dent Birch, and Act­ing As­sis­tant Su­per­in­ten­dent Cal­len­der.
