Lawyers representing a group of eight Venezuelan nationals who were refused entry into T&T by immigration authorities have gotten a High Court order challenging the decision.
The Venezuelan nationals, who are being kept in a hotel in Trincity at the airline’s expense, arrived at Piarco on Thursday aboard a La Venezolana flight were expected to be released last night.
One of the lawyers representing the group, Mario Merritt said it took them “over six hours” to serve the court documents to immigration officials at the airport on Saturday.
The lawyers, including Wayne Sturge, filed a lawsuit challenging the decision of the immigration officers to refuse entry and were granted a stay of the order after a hearing before a judge in the High Court.
