Four T&T players are among the top 15 who have scored the most runs in the just concluded TCL Group West Indies Under-19 Challenge three-day competition. Among the four is top allrounder Yannic Cariah who finished in third place among the leading run-getters. The left-handed Cariah tallied 347 runs and scored one century and two fifties.
Evin Lewis of Princes Town Senior Comprehensive and PowerGen Sports was fourth scoring one hundred and two half-centuries. Also in the top 15 fray were opening batsman Nicholas Alexis and skipper Yannick Ottley of Clico Preysal Sports. Alexis scored 230 runs, while skipper Ottley notched 228. Three T&T bowlers were among the top 10 wickettakers. Heading the local team in the top 15 among the bowlers was Cariah who bagged 27 wickets to finish third to Patrick Harty of Jamaica who picked up 30 scalps.
T&T's 16-year-old pint-sized leg-spinner Kissoondath Magram grabbed 19 wickets to place among the bowlers, while left-arm spinner Javed Boodram was tenth with 14 victims. Chairman of the West Indies senior selection panel, Clyde Butts is expected in the island today. Butts will team up with the other regional selectors, Raphick Jumadeen, Robert Haynes and Nehemiah Perry to finalise a 20-member squad in preparation for the ICC 2010 Youth World Cup in January-February.
