The Daren Gan­ga Foun­da­tion host­ed its first an­nu­al Christ­mas din­ner, An evening of Cel­e­bra­tion and Ap­pre­ci­a­tion, on Thurs­day at the Petrotrin Staff Club, Pointe-a-Pierre. The hol­i­day spir­it filled the room amidst twin­kling lights, fes­tive wreaths and the glow­ing faces of the 15 schol­ar­ship win­ners, in whose ho­n­our the din­ner was held.

Pres­i­dent of the Foun­da­tion, Shel­don Gan­ga said the event was a red let­ter day and the pur­pose of the Foun­da­tion was to as­sist youths in re­al­is­ing their full po­ten­tial. "These young de­serv­ing peo­ple" he con­tin­ued, "are the stars of to­mor­row who ought to grasp the op­por­tu­ni­ties pre­sent­ed to them with both hands and use the Foun­da­tion as a step­ping stone."

Shel­don ex­pressed his ad­mi­ra­tion for his broth­er, Daren who "recog­nised and ap­pre­ci­at­ed that the suc­cess of an in­di­vid­ual was in­flu­enced and sup­port­ed by a strong net­work of fam­i­ly, friends, com­mu­ni­ty and full on co-op­er­a­tion". Ex­ec­u­tive chair­man of the Foun­da­tion, Daren Gan­ga de­scribed the event as "a dream come true." He pledged his com­mit­ment to the Foun­da­tion and de­scribed the 15 schol­ar­ship win­ners as the "stars and pi­o­neers of the pro­gramme."
