A senior police officer has been charged with attempted murder, wounding with intent and shooting with intent following an incident in which a Wallerfield man was shot to death on Christmas Day.
Detectives said yesterday they were waiting on instructions from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in regard to other charges. Ashley Charles succumbed to gunshot wounds after he was shot at Demerara Road in Arima.
Charles' brother, Mark and mother Francesca, 49, were also shot during the incident which reportedly stemmed from an argument involving land. During the fracas, the senior officer sustained injuries to the head and up to late yesterday remained warded at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope. Snr Supt of Northern Division Police Rajendranath Maharaj is continuing investigations.
