Cops look for Jamaican hitman
Homicide detectives are probing a report that a Jamaican hitman has been brought to T&T to assassinate head of the North Eastern Divisional Task Force Sgt Roger Alexander. Members of the Special Anti-Crime Unit (Sautt) and officers of the Repeat Offenders Programme (Rope) reportedly unearthed the plot. Yesterday, Alexander confirmed that he had been informed of the plot and a report has been submitted to acting Police Commissioner James Philbert and head of the North Eastern Division Senior Supt Theophilus Cummings.
Police sources said they received information last Friday that a prime suspect, implicated in the killing of Sean “Bill” Francis, was responsible for hiring the hitman. Investigating officers believe the hitman had been hiding out somewhere in Laventille Road, San Juan. Police were up to late yesterday searching for him. Investigators said the plot was unearthed after the Morvant Police Station was flooded with calls regarding the Jamaican national. The callers, police said, warned that a “hefty” price had been put on Alexander’s head.
“The calls became more and more disturbing...They described how Alexander would be killed and it was definitely not something we could have ignored,” one investigator said. He said lawmen were also told that police officers in Jamaica were “dealt with differently.” Alexander, who worked at the then Organised Crime, Narcotics Unit (OCNU) has been instrumental in the arrest of several murder suspects within the North Eastern Division. Last Friday, Alexander and his team of officers recovered the gun which they believed had been used in the killing of Francis’ 25-year-old nephew Nathaniel. The younger Francis, of Vegas in Morvant, went on a robbery with another man at Cipriani Avenue, Morvant, but was instead confronted by irate villagers and shot and killed with his own gun.
There had been several attempts in the past by unknown people to kill Alexander. In one instance black magic was used to issue a warning. Alexander’s name was written in blood on a piece of paper which was tied to rotting chicken feet and nailed to a utility pole in Morvant. But the threats have had no impact on Alexander. “At the end of the day, the work must go on and I am definitely not afraid. I will continue to do my duty and continue to bring criminals to justice,” Alexander said.
So now Jamaican and Trini
So now Jamaican and Trini criminals in cahoots in a major way? We have the money and they supply the muscle. I pray that the the only person 'hit' in this is the Jamaican and by many T&T police bullets.
CARICOM works after all?
Oh dear ....there we go
Oh dear ....there we go again ...another side show to cover up the real issues in the land ...with yes man Philbert at the helm again....,Maybe the Manning Crime Plan will be revealed now .....steupsssssssssssssssssssss
THAT ROGER'S WAY. I know
THAT ROGER'S WAY.
I know Roger a.k.a. alex. personally for two years.
I never met a more dedicated officer in my entire life and all my travels internationally.
That's his words exactly, 'the work must go on'.
It's only obvious that he and his team of officers are making a dent on crime.
I always ask him if he and his Task force officers are the only one's working and this is because only his name in the press all the time.
If only other officers would only follow his lead we will be ok.
I want Alex to know he and his family are in my prays everyday.
Please tell that Jamaican if he knows whats good for him and his fellow men he should just ride out.
People in this country want
People in this country want to embrace all things Jamaician, well there is a race of people I can give you a history how of hard it was to live with them in a foriegn country.
It was the greatest pleasure to prove your country of origin. Can you hear school children adopting their accent just by listening to the music, can you hear our artiste imitating them and talking like them on interviews.
We are now exporting their music to Germany as "Trinidad Reggae"(can you spot the difference?) so now we can import their hit men as well.
We live in some sick days but trust me those people will live or not to regret their dealings with those "Jamdown's" I hope the POLICE make it their business to pursue them with vigour, and thanks to the community who has made it their business to inform on them.
The police need this kind of help. God protect the police in their daily duties. We seem to sometimes forget that they are our and our neighbour's children.
CSME, thanks to our dear
CSME, thanks to our dear father of the nation we can now import criminals wholesale from jamaica and all the other CARICOM islands with no proper checks and it gets even better when we become a single economy and political union, soon we are going to have to give up our homes and everything to the local and imported criminals.
Oh and the 19 persons
Oh and the 19 persons deported from the US to Trinidad were Dominicans.? We Trinidadians do commit crimes in other countries; shucks we commit crimes in our own backyards, is this also a result of CSME?
I'm not saying this it's ok for him to be here, just saying grow up and stop blaming others, "issa trini bring him here".
I want the police to shoot
I want the police to shoot to kill when they find him,I cannot believe the length those criminals are going to have their way in crime, thanks to the still few decent people living in the crime-ridden areas by calling the police to give vital information(may God protect you all)trinis love to copy every other country/culture but their own, I was so proud to see a young man from Tobago on the reality show "Make me a Top Mdel" but when he started to speak I had to ask myself is he from Jamaica,he did not sound like a trini, are you all ashamed of who you are, now they importing Hit Men..Lord what next.
As a Jamaican living and
As a Jamaican living and working in Trinidad, I'm dismayed. Crime in any form is something to be frowned upon but this headline is personally embarassing to say the least. I hope the police will put all resources to finding this man and dealing with him quickly before he can wreak further havoc on T&T!
Let's not put blame anywhere other than its rightful place though. CSME is a useful structure, that if properly used can benefit us all. There are many Trinidadians living and working in Jamaica who have benefitted from the same CSME structure that some are saying is responsible for this man coming in. RBTT is one of 6 banks in Jamaica, TCL owns our cement company, Guardian is one of our larger insurance providers and staff members travel back and forth with ease! A clear benefit of CSME. We have to remember that criminals have the resources to go anywhere - US, UK, Canada, China - you name it. So whether there was a CSME or not, whether T&T had visa restrictions against Jamaicans, this man - or someone just like him - would most likely be on our shores. I humbly suggest that the question should be - how many more like him - whether Jamaican, Columbian, Venezuelan, Haitian or Grenadian are already here or come and go with impunity?
Please realise that criminals don't necessarily come in through the airports. They come in on boats and on small planes that literally fly below the radar. Don't be fooled that they came in through Piarco.
To me, the focus now should be how to manage crime GENERALLY. While we must give due attention to this Jamaican criminal who we now know is here, I suggest that he is not the only one here from other countries around the world. We have to realise that managing crime has as a part of its mandate knowing who is coming in to the country. As such, immigration 'reform' or a proper system to track people is VITAL as well as an effective monitoring of our coastline.
I hope that Mr. Alexander and others in the police force will take this threat seriously and put all due resources in place to catch this man. I also hope they start thinking seriously about monitoring the borders of the island - they may be surprised what they find!
We already have "Hit Man"
We already have "Hit Man" for so in Trinidad.
The "Hit" is the jokey ministers in the cabinet - especially Joseph, the incompetent Minister of National Security and Imbert the "pompek" mouth piece of the PM and all the other "yes men and women" in the cabinet.
And "the Man" is no less a puss-on dan "the Farter of the Nation."
Lord, Please Help Us.
While I'm horrified by the
While I'm horrified by the idea that foreign nationals can be hired into the country to carry out executions, I must say that we must not regress in our efforts toward a closer caribbean and a better world for our children and grandchildren to live in. We can not blame the Jamaican music and the fact that there are trinis who adopt their accents and so on, every other people of other countries do the same, music is international and we are all free to perform or listen to what ever style of music we want, did anyone know that Pan Music is very big in Japan and they take their Pan Music very seriously they don't blame their domsetic ills on trinis and trini culture. To start this type of behavior can only bring more negatives, if you want to degrade the PERSON hired to execute this fine upstanding officer along with the TRINI or TRINIS who hired him then do so we would be justified in this regard but to link the Jamaican music and the Jamaican people or any other style of music or any other national of another country to our own troubles is wrong and we need to do better than that, as human beings who share this earth together. In case anyone is wondering I am a TRINI and very proud of it but right is right!
I applaud the community of
I applaud the community of MORVANT for taking the initiative to warn the police of such a heinous and ignorant action of these cowards. I also agree with the last comment, lets not blame the music of other island, for it also represent us also as one people weather it be soca, reggae or zouk. Lets stand together and help protect this officer for going out there daily and risking his life for a better community, and keep him and the members of his force in our prayers. And people do remember it's not the poor people who are bringing these drugs and guns to our shores, look at the bigger picture and you will see.
I also applaud the people of
I also applaud the people of Morvant for taking the initiative to warn the police, now if only they could warn them about their own backyard criminals then we will really get a grip on crime.
Repeating History
Repeating History
Remember Selwyn Richardson after he unearthed all the PNM Corruption a hit was put on him. What was the end result? Then propaganda was circulated that it was drug hit. This is a man that was PNM for years. He moved from untouchable to vulnerable in a few years and a change of party. Just like Kwei Tung. Isn't it interesting as soon as you leave PNM you become either thief or drug lord. I recommend that we have only one party all the crime in the country will stop.
Very sad indeed. However,
Very sad indeed. However, the police department should remain loyal to the law and not deal treacherously and cut side deals with criminals when their cash runs low. There could many reasons for this "hit", but I believe two of them to be fear and harassment from Mr. Alexander and other members of his force.

Why is it we need to import
Why is it we need to import a gunman from Jamica when we have so many murderers on our streets.
