The search for fugi­tive Wayne John­son end­ed yes­ter­day af­ter po­lice found him hid­ing in a ve­hi­cle at Tabaquite. In­ves­ti­ga­tors said around 7 am, of­fi­cers from the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion­al Task Force and Princes Town po­lice re­ceived a tip-off fol­low­ing which they set up a road­block at Broth­ers Road.

They lat­er stopped a ve­hi­cle and found John­son hid­ing in­side. He at­tempt­ed to flee but was ar­rest­ed. Over the past week, of­fi­cers from the Princes Town CID and South­ern Di­vi­sion­al Task Force have been en­gaged in a man­hunt for the sus­pect. Hours af­ter his es­cape, of­fi­cers rushed to Rail­way Road, Princes Town and raid­ed a house, but did not find him. The of­fi­cers al­so searched at Mon Re­pos, Co­coyea, San Fer­nan­do and the forest­ed ar­eas at Tabaquite, but were un­able to ar­rest him.

John­son, 26, es­caped around 11 am on Tues­day, short­ly af­ter ap­pear­ing at the Princes Town Mag­is­trates on a rob­bery and mur­der charge. He al­leged pushed down two cops and bolt­ed. Sources said two cops are the sub­ject of an in­ves­ti­ga­tion and may face dis­ci­pli­nary charges. John­son was tak­en to the Princes Town po­lice sta­tion yes­ter­day where he will be charged for es­cap­ing law­ful cus­tody, fol­low­ing which he will ap­pear be­fore a Princes Town Mag­is­trate.
