Five days after he was reported missing, the decomposed, naked body of a San Fernando carpenter has been found spread-eagled at Embaccadere, San Fernando. Police believe Dennis Rennie, 37, was chopped to death and his body dumped in bushes close to Roodal Cemetery. It was found by his brother, Mitch Rennie, shortly after midday yesterday. Rennie’s uncle, Ian, said the body bore chop wounds on the elbow and fingers. There were also marks of violence on the neck and head.
Rennie’s mother, Patricia, said he was last seen alive on Monday. She said for four days they searched the nearby apartment buildings, hoping that he would turn up. Wiping away her tears, Patricia sobbed, “Why they do this to my child? He didn’t do anybody anything. The only thing he used to do is drink. These people wicked.” Patricia said she became worried about Rennie’s whereabouts when he did not return home around 11 pm.
“That night I went to bed thinking he will soon come home, but he didn’t come back Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, and so we went to the police and made a report. The police said they will search for him.” The family then began their own searches. His brother Marlon said he believed a resident killed Rennie, and alleged that a man often pestered them for money. Police said yesterday they were working on several leads. The body was removed to San Fernando mortuary, where an autopsy will be done. ASP Cecil Santana and officers of the Southern Division Homicide Bureau are continuing investigations.
WHEN WILL THE KILLING STOP?
WHEN WILL THE KILLING STOP?
I think prayer is the answer. The police can't be everywhere, the government can't do everything, but God can be all things to all people, so we, as a nation should devote more time to prayer and follow the Lord's Prayer which says "As we forgive them that trespass against us". Because if we can forgive someone who has done us wrong an not seek revenge, we can avoid retaliation. Trinidad still has lots of great people who are peaceful, loving and kind. We must remember that. We are taking a beating worldwide about the number of homicides that occur, but we have to stay the course as a peaceful, god-fearing nation.
