Youth charged with murder
Kevin Vincent, centre, being led to the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court to answer the charge of murder of television cameraman Akeel Mathison.
A 19-year-old Cocoyea youth yesterday appeared in court charged with the murder of television cameraman Akeel Mathison. Kevin Vincent, unemployed of Cocoyea Village, San Fernando, was not called upon to plead, when he appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington in the San Fernando First Magistrate’s Court. He was remanded in custody to reappear on September 15.
PC Roger Reid laid the charge against Vincent for the August 28 murder of Akeel Mathison, 22, at a Internet cafe on Lord Street, San Fernando. The court heard that Mathison, a cameraman employed with Acts 25 Channel 9, was leaving the venue when he was stabbed in the chest as he refused to hand over his Blackberry cellphone. Mathison allegedly ran back to the Internet cafe and repeated the name of his attacker, whom he knew, before he succumbed to his injuries.

Hey, I wonder if this young murderer posted stuff on his FaceBook?
What other reason would he have had for killing a person for his BlackBerry?
The Government has put out so many programmes for the youths of today, yet they still look for a life of crime. I also do not see the parent/s of this boy anywhere around. Typical of gangsters. At age 19 he could face the gallows like a man.
