Police probing the death of a 32-year-old Champs Fleurs man suspect he was killed with a gun which had a silencer attached to it. Lowell Lashley, of Second Private Road, a customer service representative at PTSC, was shot dead at Cornelius Drive in Tunapuna. Detectives said a Tunapuna man has been detained for questioning. Lashley went to visit his girlfriend and left the house around 3.30 am. Police said he was ambushed by gunmen. His body was found by residents around 5 am. He had a single gunshot to the head.
Residents immediately notified the police. The body was viewed by the district medical officer and ordered removed to the Forensic Science Centre for an autopsy. Snr Supt Joseph Edwards, along with officers of the Homicide Bureau, Special Anti-Crime Unit and the Tunapuna CID visited the crime scene. Residents reportedly told the police they did not hear any noise or gunshots. Police said Lashley was not known to be involved in criminal activity. Homicide officers are continuing investigations.
