The Ju­di­cia­ry said it was con­cerned by the killing of mur­der ac­cused Pe­ter Gar­cia at the Rio Claro Mag­is­trates' Court, yes­ter­day. In a me­dia re­lease is­sued hours af­ter the in­ci­dent, the Ju­di­cia­ry said it was al­so con­cerned about the prox­im­i­ty from the court and the Rio Claro Po­lice Sta­tion where the in­ci­dent oc­curred. Ac­cord­ing to the re­lease, the in­ci­dent "gives an in­di­ca­tion of the bold­ness and the ex­tent to which crim­i­nals are pre­pared to go to car­ry out their heinous acts."

It fur­ther added the un­for­tu­nate in­ci­dent oc­curred when the Ju­di­cia­ry was un­der­tak­ing ex­ten­sive ren­o­va­tions at the court house. "The Ju­di­cia­ry will re­dou­ble its ef­forts at re­view­ing its own se­cu­ri­ty arrange­ments to en­sure as far as pos­si­ble that no users of the court sys­tem in T&T are put to any un­nec­es­sary risk," the re­lease said.
