Police get new lead in health centre shooting
Investigators have been provided with two names which they believe may assist them in solving the murder of 23-year-old Lennox Bellerand Jnr.
Bellerand was gunned down while in the waiting room of the Success/Laventille Health Centre at Espinet Street Thursday morning. Two men entered the facility and killed the young man in full view of parents and children. According to police yesterday, arrests were imminent as investigators said they had an idea of who they were looking for.
They said although residents were reluctant to provide information, they were able to gather information from a nearby video surveillance camera. The health centre remained closed yesterday as the Health Ministry advised residents to visit neighbouring centres. At Espinet Street yesterday, residents said they were not surprised by the brazenness of the gunmen. Up to late yesterday afternoon, officers from the Besson Street CID, under acting ASP Sahadeo Singh, were conducting searches for the assailants.
WE LIKE IT SO
WE LIKE IT SO -
Murders UNC - 100, PNM - 500. You were told so by Panday. Go and tell the extra 400 victims and their childred that Panday tainted.
Steups, Panday is a sore on
Steups, Panday is a sore on the body politic! he needs to go if this country is to have any chance..otherwise is PNM in allyuh pweffen forever!
power crazy man...ride out now!
And you calling yourself fairplay...steups to you too, like the police were any different under the UNC..PUHLEEZE!
NONE SO BLIND
NONE SO BLIND -
There are none as blind as those who do not see. Murders UNC- 100, PNM - 500 and you see no difference. Look into the grief stricken eyes of the children and the families of the extra 400 and tell them "Panday is a sore on the body politic! he needs to go if this country is to have any chance..otherwise is PNM in allyuh pweffen forever!" Is not “PNM in allyuh pweffen forever”. Is “PNM till yuh dead” that is the more appropriate saying, and they have plenty deding. When they come for your family don't bawl just roll in the blood and rejoice and say PNM forever. Just like Twiggy and people in Laventille after bathing and collecting water in a canal. . Don't call the police say "like the police were any different under the UNC..PUHLEEZE!". Say like your leader is collateral damage. Young black men dying like dogs in the streets, as a black man I am seriously concerned. It looks like you rejoice at the Ethnic Cleansing of black on black murders. You must really hate black people. But it must translate into more than that to self hate. The average human with a modicum of sensitivity would be appalled at the death of 400 dogs much less humans. Your hate for Panday is cutting off your nose to spite your face.

UNBRIDLED HATE FOR PANDAY
UNBRIDLED HATE FOR PANDAY -
It would be interesting to do a sociological examination of the unbridled bias and hate towards Panday.
RELEIGON - From a religious perspective hate for someone is a sin. Religious tolerance is preached on one hand while some preachers tell their flock that Hinduism is evil on the other hand and they should not vote for a Hindu PM.
RACE – History would have taught us that the AFRICANS and INDIANS were both exploited people. In addition the suffering of slavery by AFRICANS should make them sensitive to racial bias against any people. This is most apparent in Obama. Our Indian brothers have contributed significantly to our liberation struggles. It started with Ghandi in South Africa to Panday in T&T. ‘”Indians and Negroes unite and join the struggle for human rights” was the rally call of the 1970 BLACK Power Revolution.
CLASS - Most Trinbagonians came from humble families. It was the struggle of the Labour Unions that allows us an increased piece of the economic pie. This made it possible for the movement of many families of port workers and cane farmers to a middle class and professional status. Panday, Weeks, Butler and other trade unions leaders were in the forefront of this struggle.
We all know that nothing
We all know that nothing coming out of this. Who is the police trying to fool here? Even the dead guy's mother who saw everything from inches not saying anything for fear of losing her life. Gang members eradicating their own? In the eyes of the authorities no crime was committed. And life in sweet T&T goes on.
The police seems to be
The police seems to be trying their best, we should be happy that they are. I know I am. Do people really believe that another political party whether UNC or COP could have made much of a difference, much of a dent, in the crime rate? The crime rate in Trinidad is irrelevant to the political party in charge. Criminals dont take into consideration what political party is in govt before they rob, murder or kidnap. What serves to hinder them is an effective and efficient police force.
Sure it may be said that an ineffective govt by its inactions may not be doing enough to combat crime but can anyone really say with conviction that the current govt of Trinidad has done nothing towards reducing crime?
The secret to a lower crime rate is effective laws, effective policing and effective prosecuting.
There are effective laws in Trinidad but perhaps more could be forthcoming and in fact this new Evidence Bill is a good step. The police actually seems to have become much more accountable and effective under their Acting Commissioner, they should be encouraged and provided with additional tools and resources to enable them to carry out their function and improve on the safety and security of the nation's people. Lastly, we have courts (prosecuting). There, much work remains to be done, but both Chief Justice Archer and the Attorney General Jermaine seem to have good ideas that are awaiting implementation. WAITING TO IMPLEMENT
WAITING TO IMPLEMENT -
2,500 murders later, too little too late. UNC was voted out because PNM said they could do better on crime and corruption, no more excuses. Crime is five times worst and corruption ten times worst. Ask Mr Rowley. If your logic "Do people really believe that another political party whether UNC or COP could have made much of a difference, much of a dent, in the crime rate?" is correct then we should not have voted out UNC. Not next 10 years that is total rubbish and unacceptable. We cannot have one set of standards for one and accept sub stand performance from the other. We hired PNM to get the job done not to present us with non ending excuses for their lack of performance.
