A 21-year-old Mal­oney man, who was ac­cused of rob­bing a sol­dier, was beat­en by a group of men dressed in cam­ou­flage uni­forms and wear­ing ski masks. Dar­ren Babb, of Build­ing 14, Apart­ment 2-4 West, was lim­ing at Build­ing 15, Apart­ment 14 at Mal­oney around 11 pm on Sun­day when eight men wear­ing cam­ou­flage out­fits and black ski masks dragged Babb in­to a green jeep. A black jer­sey was then placed over Babb's head, he told in­ves­ti­ga­tors. Af­ter dri­ving around with Babb for a while the men took him out of the ve­hi­cle and beat him, threat­en­ing to kill him, Babb said.

One of them then or­dered Babb to "run and not look back" as the jeep drove off. When Babb took off the jer­sey he told po­lice he recog­nised he was in a bushy area on the Ari­ma Old Road.With the as­sis­tance of a pass­er-by Babb made his way to the Ari­ma Po­lice Sta­tion and lodged a re­port. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing. When con­tact­ed Pub­lic Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer of the T&T De­fence Force, Cap­tain Al Alexan­der, said he was un­aware of the in­ci­dent but as­sured he "will look in­to it."
