Employees of Slim's Homestyle Grill, Aripero were left traumatised as a co-worker was gunned down a short distance from the establishment. According to Oropouche police, at 10.45 am two men entered Slim's, pointing a gun at owner, Anthony Khan, announcing a hold up. Khan surrendered his wallet and cellphone, the wallet containing $1,200. After the bandits left, a shaken Khan notified his employees about what had just happened. Two of the employees, Aquinda Daisley and Larry Bissoondath, age 24, chased after the bandits. One of the bandits opened fire hitting Bissoondath in the chest. He ran a short distance before collapsing. Police arrived on the scene and cornered the two men who opened fire on them, with the officers returning fire, shooting both assailants.

The bandits and Bissoondath were taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where they were pronounced dead on arrival. Anthony Khan, owner of Slim's, who was still in shock said, "I was approached by two men. One pulled out his gun and said it was a hold up. I was robbed of a gold chain; cellphone and my wallet containing $1,200. "I asked them if I could take out my permit (driving) and they let me. They then took off running. Larry and Aquinda gave chase and I heard a shot buss." Khan said Bissoondath was decent, hardworking and one of his best worker. Another employee said, "Larry was a happy person, always smiling and laughing." Bissoondath, a resident of Silver Stream in Aripero, lived with his common law wife April Thomas and three month old baby boy. Residents in the area said Bissoondath was a real nice person and always helped those in need.
