Another student was stabbed yesterday in a brazen robbery in front of pedestrians at City Gate, Port-of-Spain.
Police said 15-year-old Dayne Medina, a Woodbrook Secondary School student, up to late yesterday was resting comfortably at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital. A 15-year-old teenage suspect was being questioned by police. Police said Medina was standing outside a food outlet in the busy hub when he was approached by three teenagers around 3.30 pm. Detectives said Medina was told to "pass cash" and valuables but he resisted. He was then stabbed about the body. He was taken to the hospital where police said he received emergency treatment.
Investigators said he was resting comfortably and doctors told police his wounds did not pierce any vital organs. Public Transport Service Corporation Marketing and Public Relations Officer Avian Lake said security would continue to be increased at the hub. "We are aware of the incident and the police are investigating. Usually around Carnival security is beefed up," Lake said. She said the police presence would be added with in-house security. Central Police are continuing investigations. On Monday afternoon, Jevon Douglas, 18, a Mt Hope Junior Secondary Student was allegedly stabbed in the chest by another student along the Eastern Main Road. Douglas died from his injuries at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.
