An­oth­er stu­dent was stabbed yes­ter­day in a brazen rob­bery in front of pedes­tri­ans at City Gate, Port-of-Spain.

Po­lice said 15-year-old Dayne Med­i­na, a Wood­brook Sec­ondary School stu­dent, up to late yes­ter­day was rest­ing com­fort­ably at the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal. A 15-year-old teenage sus­pect was be­ing ques­tioned by po­lice. Po­lice said Med­i­na was stand­ing out­side a food out­let in the busy hub when he was ap­proached by three teenagers around 3.30 pm. De­tec­tives said Med­i­na was told to "pass cash" and valu­ables but he re­sist­ed. He was then stabbed about the body. He was tak­en to the hos­pi­tal where po­lice said he re­ceived emer­gency treat­ment.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said he was rest­ing com­fort­ably and doc­tors told po­lice his wounds did not pierce any vi­tal or­gans. Pub­lic Trans­port Ser­vice Cor­po­ra­tion Mar­ket­ing and Pub­lic Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer Avian Lake said se­cu­ri­ty would con­tin­ue to be in­creased at the hub. "We are aware of the in­ci­dent and the po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing. Usu­al­ly around Car­ni­val se­cu­ri­ty is beefed up," Lake said. She said the po­lice pres­ence would be added with in-house se­cu­ri­ty. Cen­tral Po­lice are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions. On Mon­day af­ter­noon, Jevon Dou­glas, 18, a Mt Hope Ju­nior Sec­ondary Stu­dent was al­leged­ly stabbed in the chest by an­oth­er stu­dent along the East­ern Main Road. Dou­glas died from his in­juries at the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex.
