?A Cunu­pia elec­tri­cian was yes­ter­day sen­tenced to sev­en years in jail for hav­ing sex with his daugh­ter ten years ago.

The pris­on­er, 47, was found guilty last Thurs­day but sen­tence was hand­ed down yes­ter­day by Jus­tice Ra­jiv Per­sad in the Port-of-Spain Sixth Crim­i­nal Court. The pros­e­cu­tion led ev­i­dence that on Oc­to­ber 15, 1999, the vic­tim went to vis­it her fa­ther at his home. She had gone to ask her fa­ther for mon­ey but he in­stead made ad­vances to­wards her. And af­ter fondling her, he forced her to per­form oral sex on him. He in turn per­formed oral sex on her be­fore pro­ceed­ing to have in­ter­course with her.

Her moth­er re­mained ig­no­rant of the in­ci­dent un­til the teen told her about it in March 2000. It was then re­port­ed to the po­lice and in­ves­ti­gat­ed by In­spec­tor Den­nis House­nd.
