Fisherman Willand Mitchell, who is accused of stabbing his former wife Sabrina Lalla-Mitchell to death at Bavarian Motors, has retained attorney Jason Jackson to defend him. Yesterday Mitchell, 44, reappeared before deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington in the San Fernando First Court. When the matter was called police prosecutor Sgt Roland Williams told Wellington, the complainant in the matter, Cpl Roger Reid was on injury leave and could not attend court.
Mitchell, when asked if he had an attorney, informed Wellington attorney Jason Jackson had been retained to represent him. However, Jackson was not in court when the matter was called. Attorney Shaun Tikasingh held for Jackson and indicated his colleague had "a personal difficulty" yesterday which prevented him from attending court.
Jackson, Tikasingh said, requested the matter be adjourned to the regular adjournment date. Wellington adjourned the matter to December 23. Mitchell was charged with stabbing to death Lalla-Mitchell at her workplace� Bavarian Motors Ltd� Todd Street, San Fernando, on October 26. Lalla-Mitchell, 34, an assistant manager, was stabbed 20 times, a post mortem report said.
