Comedienne Rachel Price yesterday pleaded "not guilty" to assaulting a teacher and using obscene language when she appeared before a Port-of-Spain magistrate yesterday. It was no laughing matter for the entertainer when she stood before Senior Magistrate Lucina Cardenas-Ragoonanan in the Fourth (A) Court. She was released on $10,000 own bail which she had secured from a Justice of the Peace while in police custody on Friday.
The 36-year-old, of La Puerta, Diego Martin, was represented by attorney Om Lalla. The charges stem from an investigation lasting a month. The probe took investigators to the Bishop's Anstey High School, Port-of-Spain. Price reportedly has a daughter going to the school.
She is alleged to have unlawfully assaulted Michelle Campbell by beating her and used obscene language to the annoyance of others on November 16, 2010 at the school's compound on Keate Street, Port-of-Spain. She surrendered to police on Friday after she learned that a warrant had been issued for her arrest. She was ordered to return to court on Friday. Sgt Barry Parsanlal appeared for the prosecution.
