Students of Debe Secondary School had to be dismissed after a gas leak developed near their school.
Personnel from the National Gas company are currently on site checking the 16-inch diameter pipeline which runs near the school.
CNC3 News confirmed there was smell when the team visited the area near the University of the West Indies Penal/ Debe campus, situated near to the Debe Secondary School.
President of the school's Parent- Teacher Association Samantha Harracksingh said all students were safely removed and no one was hurt.
She said fire officers arrived promptly and made checks.
" The odour has been intermittent. The PTA is pleased with the way the matter was handled and we are calling on the authorities to find the source of the leak as soon as possible," Harracksingh said.
