Police are trying to identify the body of a man found floating in the waters near the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Port of Spain, on Friday morning.
Police said a boater picked up a diver from the Port and was returning to his Jamaican-flagged vessel at around 6:24 am, when he noticed the decomposing body floating nearby.
The boater informed the captain of the ship, who called the police.
Officers of the Marine Patrol Unit and the Coastal Unit went to the scene and found the body about 1,000 meters from the shoreline.
Police brought the body to shore where it was declared dead by a district medical officer.
Officers of the Central Police Station and the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region I visited the scene.
