Detention order issued for Calvin ‘Tyson’ Lee

Calvin "Tyson" Lee who was arrested after the Soe was announced and was released eight days later.

The Min­is­ter of Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty, un­der the pow­ers of the State of Emer­gency has is­sued a de­ten­tion or­der for Calvin Lee al­so called ‘Tyson’.

The Le­gal No­tice pub­lished to­day but or­dered on Jan­u­ary 17, said:

“I, the Ho­n­ourable Fitzger­ald Hinds, Min­is­ter of Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty, in ex­er­cise of the pow­ers con­ferred on me, do here­by or­der that the said Car­lvin Lee, al­so called Tyson, of Tow­er 3, Apart­ment 57, Clifton Tow­ers, St. Paul Street, Port-of-Spain, be de­tained, and do here­by au­tho­rise the East­ern Le­gal Sup­ple­ment Part B—Vol. 64, No. 9—20th Jan­u­ary, 2025 37 Cor­rec­tion­al Re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion Cen­tre lo­cat­ed at 26 Kilo­me­tre Mark, Churchill-Roo­sevelt High­way, San­ta Rosa, Ari­ma.”

The le­gal no­tice al­so notes Lee, "has been cred­i­bly iden­ti­fied as the leader of a known crim­i­nal or­gan­i­sa­tion known as the SIXX gang, and as the per­son plan­ning and in­tend­ing to ex­e­cute vi­o­lent re­tal­ia­to­ry reprisals or oth­er vi­o­lent ac­tions in­volv­ing the use of high-pow­ered weapons and ex­plo­sives, fol­low­ing an at­tempt­ed hit on his life and the mur­der of his as­so­ciate Trevor Williams."

Lee was placed un­of­fi­cial­ly un­der "house ar­rest" short­ly af­ter the State of Emer­gency be­gan.  

The Le­gal No­tice said that "it is nec­es­sary to pro­vide for his pre­ven­tive de­ten­tion with a view to pre­vent­ing him act­ing in a man­ner prej­u­di­cial to pub­lic safe­ty or pub­lic or­der or the de­fence of Trinidad and To­ba­go."
