Digicel Business donated ten additional tablets to students in need of connectivity for homeschooling.
According to Digicel Business, this donation brings the total number of laptop and tablet devices sponsored by Digicel during the pandemic to 1,925.
Laurence Modeste, General Manager of Digicel Business said: “Digicel Business is very passionate about education and ensuring that our nation’s students get the support they need. We will continue to work with stakeholders to fill the gaps, as we are all in this together.”
The recipients of this latest donation come from schools throughout the country, whose parents are doing their best but need additional support.
Modeste added: “My mother was a school Principal so I have a deep sense of personal responsibility when it comes to education and helping others. The team at Digicel truly believes in our mantra of Better Together, and we encourage other corporate entities to join the movement.
“Let’s each do our part, even if it’s one student in your community, we have to get them all connected.”
Digicel said its other ongoing educational support measures include the zero-rating of all educational websites so that students do not need data and are not charged for accessing e-learning websites in Trinidad and Tobago. Additionally, through the Digicel Foundation, Digicel donated 1,915 devices (tablets and laptops) with free service to students throughout the country, inclusive of all 34 Special Needs Schools and 68 mainstream schools.
Digicel Business has also offered 50 per cent discount on service to teachers, and the company continues to sponsor free wifi for the Charford Court homework centre in Port-of-Spain.
