Ladies and Gents of San Fernando in collaboration with the San Fernando Arts Council held an Easter parade with vintage motor vehicles through the streets of San Fernando yesterday which ended with an Easter bonnet competition.
Chairman of the non-profit organisation Celia Barnett-Peterson said the parade was one with a difference; to encourage entrants to create designs that include a ‘Trini flavour’.
Barnette-Peterson said the organisation was formed in 2018 when they hosted the first Easter bonnet parade. She said the aim was to get “the whole family out to have fun.”
Participants left Presentation College in San Fernando in a dazzling colourful display of creative designs, taking to the streets proceeding along Carib Street, Lower Hillside, onto Coffee Street, Royal Road, and then to Circular Road to the Creative Arts Centre.
Here are some of the highlights from the event.
Nine-year-old Isabella Award of Anstey Girls’ Memorial Anglican School displays her Easter bonnet and attire yesterday during the parade.
