?One of China's best song and dance troupes is due to perform at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) again tonight after a highly appreciated performance at the country's brand new concert hall last night.

Twenty-five members of the Tianjin Song and Dance Troupe arrived in Trinidad on Monday for four performances in the country. After tonight's performance, the troupe travels to San Fernando where it performs at the Naparima Bowl tomorrow night. The troupe, which has travelled to over 30 countries across the globe, ends its tour of the country with a visit to Tobago where it performs at the Signal Hill Secondary School on Friday night. Established in 1959, the Tianjin Song and Dance Troupe comprises many national-class singers and dancers and has performed dozens of grand musical dramas in its history.

The troupe's performances are being organised by the Chinese embassy in Port-of-Spain and the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs. The visit is being sponsored by four Chinese construction companies operating in the country and Soogl Antilles. Udecott is providing support for the troupe's visit. Chinese Ambassador Yang You Ming said in an interview last week that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between T&T and China, a performing art group has visited this country almost every year.

"There are continuous cultural exchanges between the two countries. One of the reasons for this visit is to continue the cultural exchanges," said the Ambassador.
