The Eastern Regional Health Autnority (ERHA) says no patients or clinical areas were affected by the flooding at the Sangre Grande hospital. According to a press release from the ERHA, the drainage systems at the hospital could not cope with the heavy downpours this morning. This led to the rainwater overspilling onto the external corridors.
There were also no compromise or curtailment of services. The ERHA says patient and staff safety is of paramount importance and measures were taken immediately to mitigate any further issues.
It is further noted that with the rapid run-off the challenge subsided within minutes. The areas were appropriately sanitised. The ERHA continues to operate and administer care to all clients.
