A former Judiciary employee was among three persons from Morvant that have been committed to stand trial for murdering a 65-year-old pharmacist in March, last year.
Chief Magistrate Maria Busby-Earle-Caddle committed Runako Mayers, 20, of Red Hill, Morvant, Shanice Alleyne, 26, and 20-year-old Christon Lovelace, both of Plover Street in Morvant, at the end of their preliminary inquiry in the Port-of-Spain Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
They are accused of murdering consultant pharmacist Nicholas George during what was reported to be a botched car-jacking on March 3, last year.
George was at his home at Wendy Fitzwilliam Boulevard, in Diego Martin, when he was reportedly attacked by persons who attempted to rob him of his Hyundai Tuscon. George reportedly resisted and was shot.
The trio was also charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition and were also committed to stand trial for those charges.
Mayers was represented by Samantha Ramsaran while Sheldon Guerra represented Lovelace.
Alleyne, a former clerk at the Family Court, was represented by Senior Counsel Israel Khan.
Dylan Martin and Chanelle Moe represented the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
