Famalay has officially been declared as the 2019 Road March.
The song, a collaboration between Machel Montano, Skinny Fabulous and Bunji Garlin, played 346 times.
Despite the belief among revellers that the Road race may be close, it played over 100 times more than Kees Dieffenthaller's Savannah Grass, which was played 207.
Garlin, who stated in his 2004 Soca Monarch winning song 'Warrior Cry' that "He would never win a road march" took to social media to post his thoughts on the win.
He said, "As I celebrate 20 years existence in soca I would like to thank God for all that time and all that I’ve experienced in it. I thank him for the people that have been met along the way. I would like to congratulate my brothers Machel Montano, Skinny Fabulous on such a powerful piece of material that made people just come together in unbelievable ways and of course on the Road March win!!!"
Garlin, whose real name is Ian Alvarez also thanked his wife Fay Ann Lyons-Alvarez for encouraging him to do the track.
He said, "Thank you Fay Ann Lyons for encouraging me to do the song when it came and the words were ‘do it because you like it and not for a look, let it mean something to people or leave it alone’ and we proceeded and everyone won."
The win is also historic in that Skinny Fabulous, real name Gamal Doyle has become the first non-Trinidad and Tobago citizen to win the Road March.
It is Machel Montano's 10th Road March, and his third which involved a collaboration after 2006's 'Band of the Year" with Patrice Roberts and last year's "Soca Kingdom" with Superblue.
The win ties Montano with Superblue for the second most Road March wins.
The Lord Kitchener has the most wins with 11.
