Famous American actress Phylicia Rashad has left T&T after spending four days on the island.
Speaking briefly before boarding her flight at Piarco International Airport on Saturday, Rashad said while it was her first time in this country, she could not have imagined it and the experience was one she would never forget.
“I am taking Trinidad with me, so it may look like I am leaving and in a sense I am, but I am taking you with me,” she said.
Rashad came to T&T as a guest of the former president of Howard University, Trinidadian-American Scholar and surgeon Dr Wayne Frederick and his wife.
While here, she visited several places including the Bamboo Cathedral in Chaguaramas, Phase II Pan Groove, Queen’s Royal College and the Caroni Swamp.
She described her trip to the Caroni Swamp as amazing.
“The experience of just sitting there in the silence watching the birds come into this island to nest, that alone is worth the trip to Trinidad,” she said.
She said that experience coupled with meeting the people was worth the experience.
“The people are great, Trinidadian people are very warm and very welcoming and enthusiastic,” she said. She was in awe of how people in T&T celebrate life.
Rashad was best known for her role as Clair Huxtable on the hit NBC sitcom, The Cosby Show.
