Heavy rain­fall trig­gered flash flood­ing in sev­er­al parts of south­west Trinidad on Fri­day morn­ing.

Trib­u­taries run­ning par­al­lel to the South­ern Main Road were filled and wa­ter cas­cad­ed on­to the road near the Guapo Gov­ern­ment Pri­ma­ry School in Point Fortin.

The Point Fortin stock­pile, lo­cat­ed near Reid Road, was al­so af­fect­ed by floods near the Point Fortin In­door and Out­door Are­na.

CNC3's weath­er an­chor and geo­sci­en­tist Kalain Ho­sein said scat­tered show­ers and iso­lat­ed thun­der­storms will con­tin­ue to af­fect T&T to­day as the In­tertrop­i­cal Con­ver­gence Zone (ITCZ) drifts over the is­lands.

"A trop­i­cal wave is ap­proach­ing the re­gion, fore­cast to bring show­ers and thun­der­storms to the is­lands yet again on Sat­ur­day," Ho­sein said.

He added that the main haz­ards from these show­ers and thun­der­storms will be lo­cal­ly heavy rain­fall, which may trig­ger street or flash flood­ing, ac­com­pa­nied by gusty winds.
