Heavy rainfall triggered flash flooding in several parts of southwest Trinidad on Friday morning.
Tributaries running parallel to the Southern Main Road were filled and water cascaded onto the road near the Guapo Government Primary School in Point Fortin.
The Point Fortin stockpile, located near Reid Road, was also affected by floods near the Point Fortin Indoor and Outdoor Arena.
CNC3's weather anchor and geoscientist Kalain Hosein said scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue to affect T&T today as the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) drifts over the islands.
"A tropical wave is approaching the region, forecast to bring showers and thunderstorms to the islands yet again on Saturday," Hosein said.
He added that the main hazards from these showers and thunderstorms will be locally heavy rainfall, which may trigger street or flash flooding, accompanied by gusty winds.
