Roosevelt Bruce, former Chief Fire Officer, has been appointed to chair the committee appointed by the Government to probe the Fire Service response to the fire that resulted in the deaths of MP for D’Abadie/O’Meara and Minister in the Ministry of Education, Lisa Morris-Julian and two of her children.
The announcement was made by National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds a short while ago at a news conference.
Minister Hinds said the probe should take two weeks and the contents of the reports will be made public.
The other members of the three-member committee are Kurt Cadet, Chairman of OSHA and Ashti Mahabir, attorney in the Office of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs.
Lisa Morris-Julien, 48, and two of her children—her 25-year-old daughter Xianne, and six-year-old son Jesiah—died in a fire at her Farfan Street, Arima, home early Monday morning (December 16, 2024).
