The local media fraternity is mourning the death of former Guardian Media journalist Cordielle Street who died on Tuesday in New York, two days after the birth of her daughter.
She had been an entertainment reporter with the Trinidad Guardian before moving on to sister company, CNC3. After migrating to the United States, Cordielle established herself as a freelance producer and supplied content for the BBC, UK Voice, Associated French Press, United Nations Environmental Programme, CourtTV (now known as TruTv), NPR and WNYC.
Cordielle eventually became a media entrepreneur and was co-owner New York-based production company Align Pictures, transitioning from film and video production into short form and commercial producing with top artistss, brands and agencies.
She leaves behind two daughters.
Funeral arrangements are still being finalised.
