Former Guardian journalist dies in NY

The lo­cal me­dia fra­ter­ni­ty is mourn­ing the death of for­mer Guardian Me­dia jour­nal­ist Cordielle Street who died on Tues­day in New York, two days af­ter the birth of her daugh­ter.

She had been an en­ter­tain­ment re­porter with the Trinidad Guardian be­fore mov­ing on to sis­ter com­pa­ny, CNC3. Af­ter mi­grat­ing to the Unit­ed States, Cordielle es­tab­lished her­self as a free­lance pro­duc­er and sup­plied con­tent for the BBC, UK Voice, As­so­ci­at­ed French Press, Unit­ed Na­tions En­vi­ron­men­tal Pro­gramme, CourtTV (now known as TruTv), NPR and WNYC.

Cordielle even­tu­al­ly be­came a me­dia en­tre­pre­neur and was co-own­er New York-based pro­duc­tion com­pa­ny Align Pic­tures, tran­si­tion­ing from film and video pro­duc­tion in­to short form and com­mer­cial pro­duc­ing with top artistss, brands and agen­cies.

She leaves be­hind two daugh­ters.
