Two garbage collectors on duty collecting refuse in Piarco were robbed by gunmen of their cash and valuables, on Wednesday morning.
Puran Mathura of Preysal Village, Couva, and Amarnath Gangacharan of Soliedad Road, Claxton Bay, were held up around 6:45 am on March 29, as they worked along Fourth Avenue, Oropune.
The victims were reportedly collecting garbage when they saw two men approaching.
One of the men pulled out a gun and announced a robbery as the second man searched the truck’s cab.
The suspects later fled the scene on foot in different directions.
Mathura was robbed of TT$180, as well as his national identification card and bank cards; while Gangacharan was robbed of his Samsung S20 cellphone valued TT$ 6,000.
