US Labour Secretary coming for talks
Michael Annisette, President of the National Trade Union Centre (Natuc) says he expects the American Labour Secretary, Hilda Solis, to outline the Obama administration’s stance on the workers and the labour movement, and how they can all work together to solve the global crisis. Annisette told the T&T Guardian this in an interview yesterday.
Labour Secretary Solis will deliver an address during the opening of the Workers’ Forum, on April 15 and 16, at the Physical Education Centre at University of the West Indies, St Augustine. The Workers’ Forum is part of the official agenda of the Fifth Summit of the Americas.
“I expect her to detail to us the United States’ approach to the trade union movement and workers in general. If the crisis is to have a resolution, then we all have to come together,” he said. He added that the Obama administration had been worker and trade union-friendly, so far.
