Official: Only 25 reporters for each event

Media personnel wishing to cover specific events during the Fifth Summit of the Americas will have to apply to do so, but with no guarantee of being selected. The Summit takes place from tomorrow until Sunday. According to Summit media management official Melanie Gibb, only a pool of 25 media personnel will be chosen to cover each event.

She said they would be notified if selected, two hours before the event. Gibb was speaking at a news conference yesterday, at the media centre at the International Financial Centre, Tower C. Gibb said each event would be posted electronically at the media centre and persons could apply to cover any of these events. Application forms would be available on the second floor of the Financial Centre, she said.

However, out of all the applicants, only 25 persons would be selected. She said after each event all persons would be taken to the media centre, where all information would be made available to the rest of the media. She assured, though, that the selection process would be a fair one, where democracy would be exercised.
